Teardown video shows the Galaxy Z Flip5 is much easier to repair than predecessor

Last year the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 received a below average 4/10 repairability score in PBKReviews’ disassembly video. How does the new Galaxy Z Flip5 fare? Much better actually, it got a 7.5/10.

A major reason for this improvement is that Samsung used pull tabs for the two batteries whereas they were just glued in place last year. The small battery in the top half has 1,000mAh capacity, the one in the bottom half has 2,700mAh.

Various other parts have been made easier to swap out as well, but there are still some potential bumps in the road – for example, the 10MP selfie camera is still glued in place. More importantly, replacing the folding inner display has been made easier too.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 comes with a completely redesigned hinge that allows the phone to fold without a gap and folds the display differently too. It has already proven to be a lot more durable than some of its competition. For more on the Flip, check out our review.
